Cherry Poptart is a young woman who is described by the comic's publishers as "blonde, cute, sexy, fun, friendly & smart", and appears to be named after one of the flavors of Pop-Tarts.

First published in 1982, the comic series was called simply Cherry as of 1986, and through the 1990s. The original publisher was Last Gasp, and is now simply Cherry Comics.

Though the comic is largely known as an erotic or pornographic book, it does garner critical merit for occasional political commentary. The Cherry character has also appeared in several free speech/censorship awareness campaigns.
