Being the Fifth Installment of the Guy of Guisbourne Saga
"Again you have completed your mission well, and in reward the Emporer has given you domain over a large and thriving Kingdom. However, he has also levied a tax upon your realm: you must supply him with 400 Stone, 200 Bread, 40 Ale and 200 Fruit. To complicate matters, your far-flung realm of 8 small villages, each dedicated to a different Craft, Farm or Industry, is infested with marauders who are killing civilians, wrecking property, disrupting production. Also, due to a Tree Blight wood is scarce, plus due to complete dearth of carpenters and architects in this land, you cannot rebuild any new Farms, Shops or Factories, nor replace those that are destroyed.
So, with a limited army, due to the fact you don't want to use resources owed to the King, you choose to negotiate with the Barbarians. They will cease Invasions for a Tribute of only 10 Swords, 10 Metal Armour, 20 Pikes and 20 Leather Armor. Then you can continue to fulfill the King's contract in peace.
Hold off the Invaders until you can fulfill their bribe. At the same time work on the King's large order. You have only a few dozen Knights, a few Pikemen to guard the gates of the Villages, and some regular Archers to man the towers. No Crossbowmen are available, but you can draft other units if you wish to use the Armour, Pikes or Swords you need for the King, you must decide.
Your villages are at peak capacity, any major increase in population may cause severe problems.
This is your mission, should you choose to accept it. You have 20 years to fulfill the quest."
I have playtested this map _extensively_, which is hard because it takes so long to play. There are no bugs to keep you from winning, and I've timed (months) the walk of the various tradesmen from their shop to the Stockpile and back then to the Granary or Stockpile again and if you could keep all civilians unmolested you could mathematically win in Very Hard, that is, double goods needed to win, it is possible time-wise.
Some structures aren't strictly needed depending on your strategy so they could be knocked down and the peasants/material used other ways. There are several traps and tricks that become apparent depending on how you play the Scenario, for instance a strict population limiter to keep you from flooding the zone with, say, Stone Oxen hoping some get through. There are other triggers as well, if you really want to know them all open the map in an editor, its not locked. However, it might be fun to try it "cold" first.
