“Blessed and Forsaken” is one of those songs where you scream, “HOLY FUCK!” when you are listening to it… they will brutalize anyone that gets in their path. I’m glad I wasn’t in the studio with them while they were recording this album, who knows what happened in there.

With no fancy intros, no special-effects, and no bullshit, Vomitory kick off their fourth album Blood Rapture and the album ends up kicking you in the balls. This is fast-paced, running-with-an-ax, murderous-rage, no-pussies-allowed old-school Death Metal that doesn’t take shit from anybody. Like the band’s website says, “Swedish-reeking, old school death metal are ready to fuck your ears!” For those that claimed Death Metal was dead, listen to this album while you play HIDE AND GO-FUCK-YOURSELF!
After last week’s review I was looking for something brutal. This CD did just nicely. The guitars are chugging constantly (“Redeemed In Flames” kicks your skull in) with melody and speed that are unforgiving. The vocals are always in the bottom of the fucking gutter, no annoying high-pitched screams here, which is just how I like it. The drumming is blasting its way into your subconscious, where the entire piece dwells, slowly overtaking you to new reaches of violence and hate you never knew before.

The songs are quick; you press PLAY and before you know it you’ve already killed someone during one song and are working on your second casualty with the next. Reading along with the lyrics gets you even more in the mood to commit a homicide. When I heard “Nailed, Quartered, Consumed” I wanted to nail, quarter and consume someone! “Redeemed In Flames” and “Eternity Appears” stand out as quality tracks to smash peoples heads in with. You can’t help it, when you listen to this music you crave the blood.

Once I had fully listened to the CD I immediately replayed the whole thing, wanting to hear more and more. This is great old-school shit, I guarantee you will like this. This is my new soundtrack I play while slowly entering a chain saw into my newest victim…wait, no Officer, I mean, if I WERE to kill anyone I would play this…I mean, she was dead when I found her!…I mean, no, I didn’t kill her brutally…wait, NO! You can’t look down in the cellar!…I mean…FUCK YOU PIGS, I’LL KILL YOU TOO! COME HERE! TASTE THE ‘BLOOD RAPTURE’!
