I’m pretty sick of the subject of Bobby Calvan and his asshattery. His editor takes the ill-advised position that it was all a construct of the rabid right wing blogs and Mr. Calvan is totally innocent of anything other than being a macho man in a pissing contest with a soldier.

His mental capacity was characterized as “painful imbecility” by Sect. of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase.

Lefties, even in the face of more and more good news out of Iraq, are still posting their claims accusing President Bush of “bumbling” the war effort (sorry, no link for anti-American jeramiads).

I enjoy 99.9% of what Patterico writes, but I am getting a lot of mileage from one of his posts.

I just read the Harvard Finds Leftward Media Tilt poll and everyone has covered the “man bites dog” aspect of it.

However, I was struck by one short factoid in particular.

Leftwingnut blogs (sorry, no linkage for morons) are still invoking the “chickenhawk” myth, that no president who hasn’t seen military service should send soldiers into war.

I guess this rules out Hillary, Obama or Edwards ever sending any U.S. soldiers on any mission, in the unlikely event one of them is elected.

The damage Hillary! did to her own campaign at the debate the night before Halloween is even greater than previous thought, and at the time people were saying she choked.

Its always been an established fact: the more Hillary! opens her mouth and people focus on her, and the higher her disapproval ratings and the lower her support. Oddly enough, that was also true of Kerry and Gore (though not Bill Clinton).

Dan Riehl, in his How Much Of Bobby Caina Calvan Is Made Up? and LGF story McClatchy Reporter Calvan Created His Own Reality make a charge much more grave than dissing an American soldier at a border crossing.

I’ve been in a quite amicable email correspondence with Mr. Calvan and have asked him to respond to these charges, if he cares to. Also, another reporter has sent me some thoughts that might explain some of the seeming contradictions in both these stories, but has asked me not to use the material. I’ve asked him to put it in a form I can use and will include it in a new post if and when he does so.
