Rusty Shackleford thinks its outrageous that Belarus persecutes an editor for publishing the Mohammed cartoons.

Why is it outrageous for other countries to have less freedom of speech than Americans do? We are the world’s exception, not the rule. That’s the American Exceptionalism: we are the freest, and possibly the only truly free society on earth. That’s why more people come here than any other country, dwarfing the immigration to Canada or other so-called “liberal” societies.

If a president’s honesty, judgment and deeply held beliefs about race aren’t important, I don’t know what is. I’m getting a little sick of leftwingnuts telling me that the Wright affair doesn’t matter, its trivia, the media is pushing this and the right is exploiting it, the stupid, racist right etc. etc.

That’s bunk.

There is no more important issue that cuts right to the heart of the guy’s soul: does he believe what he and his wife have been nodding, agreeing and cheering with in front of their impressionable young daughters all these years?

Since Mormonism teaches blacks are “accursed of God”, perhaps that makes them fair game for bashing their religion, since they are so beneath whites? This would make Romney supporters consistent, at least.

All during Romney’s rise, we here at docweaselblog were voices in the wilderness, pointing out the racism, hypocrisy, hate-teaching, sexist beliefs and practices and intolerance of other religions endemic in the Mormon cult.

Again and again, McCain hating rightbloggers, who had no other credible alternative because they also detested Huckabee (and his evangelicalism) embraced Romney and again and again decreed that “religion is out of bounds”. You can’t attack a candidate on his religion, you can’t even discuss it.

Dems prepare for the 2008 in customary fashion

An long, costly, bloody, badly run, unpopular war (which war wouldn’t be, after the first 4 qualifiers) 8 years of Republican rule in the White House, after which the out party usually has the upper hand (unless you’re running against Dukakis, which they may be this year) an extremely unpopular president, latest poll numbers at 28%, dropping below the basement 30% of hard-core Republican stalwarts (although I don’t see it as justified, and I believe most people like him personally) and an economy that is perceived as, even if its not actually, going South.
