The knives are out for Bob Dole for having the temerity to point out that McCain bashers are mostly full of shit
Bob Dole, that most hated of Republicans by Republicans because he lost to the hated Clinton, came out today with the reasonable fact that McCain’s voting record is actually VERY conservative.
He showed, for example, that McCain’s voting record is a near mirror image of ex-Senator Jesse Helms. Of course, neither Limbaugh nor ABM Syndrome sufferers will address any of this.

I don’t buy the new CW that Hillary’s new bete noire is Palin, and it’s in her interest to destroy Palin as her main rival as top dog woman politician. For on thing, they have vastly different constituencies. Sure, some Hillaryites might vote for McCain/Palin since Hillary isn’t on the ticket, but no Democrat pro-lifer is going to vote for Palin over Hillary.

Remembering Pamela Bone, and my own experience as a religious, right of center feminist wannabe
One of my heroes and role-models died this week. Pamela Bone, multi-culturalist and feminist who, in the last years of her life, began to question whether multi-culturalism was excusing violence and repression against women.
Which, I can only pray, one day to be a fraction as affecting and effective as I believe she was, and still is, because she lives on, in print.
She died with the same grace, courage and strength with which she lived. Happily, she died with those she loved around her. She was a fighter, as I aspire to be, for women, and for women’s rights, and she was a writer, as I also aspire to be, and her focus was on women, and injustice and the pursuit of justice and peace.
