#0101 Eternal Life
Published June, 1972 / 36 pages / Kitchen Sink
The first volume of Death Rattle debuted in 1972 with a terrific Richard Corben front cover and five short stories, including two from Tim Boxell and one each from John Pound, Corben and Peter Poplaski. John Pound’s opening story, “Ronald Rabbit,” is a very funny tale about a comic creation (Ronald Rabbit) springing to life from the drawing board and instantly murdering its creator (Pound himself, as it happens), then having to manage its own existence. Tim Boxell’s two stories, “I Have Eternal Life and It’s Killing Me” and “Defiled” are both quite good, and Corben’s tale of “Gastric Fortitude” is a satisfying snack of horror.
