“Snobama” via Michelle Malkin
The kernel of the nut of this post is a bit muzzy. I spent considerable time on the photoshops and the post ended up rambling between several subjects. It began with a reverie, wondering if the disparate forces of the leftosphere and the leftist press were irrevocably estranged, or would they kiss deeply, with tongues, look into each other’s metrosexual eyes, cop a feel, get their noodle wet and make up in time to go back to their normal synchronized Republican bashing.
But the subject of the day is Obama’s pridefulness and hatred for the common man. which leftists are now framing as racist righties calling Obama “uppity”. But since he’s half-white, it could just be his hateful, bigoted white blood, crazed with entitlement and the cudgel of patriarchal repression, smashing down on the poor white trash of Appalachia.
Obama’s disdain for the sensibilities of the Americans who don’t frequent high dollar soirees in San Fran is evident in almost everything he does: from associating with anti-American criminals, to attending an anti-American church, to dismissing the majority of voters with insulting analysis of their quaint habits and superstitions and the Pavlovian way they react to a lack of government interference in the local economy: by fiercely gripping the nearest gun and headin’ for the revival meetin’ to wait for the End Times, while takin’ a potshot at any brown or gay person in the vicinity.
This disdain is so ingrained in the left’s worldview and psyche that they routinely insult most of America with everything they say and do. And its also the basis for leftist “humor” in this country, as well.
I haven’t really watched the Daily Show since Craig Kilborn was on it. I’ve caught a few clips of Jon Stewart. I don’t find him hilarious, he’s a personable guy and is not over obsequious during interviews, but he lets liberals completely off the hook while sticking it to conservatives with a snarky “I’m above it all and I see through it all” and basically has a shit attitute.
I haven’t seen him with McCain, I’ve heard he respects him, big deal.
But liberals rave about Colbert. Everyone remembers the press diner where he acted like a fucking moron and insulted the president with over-the-top asininity, the people in attendance (liberal press types) were embarrassed and didn’t laugh or react well, but the leftwingnuts just ate it up. Truth to power and all that. Actually, its a cheap shot way to pander to the lowest common denominator, the perennial losers that are the extreme left wing, who lose at everything so they take their “victories” where they can get them, and that was a pig-ignorant stupid one, so of course they made a meal of it. I’ve only seen bits and pieces, like his absolutely hilarious and well-written light saber blue-screen prank. Genius.
So today, RCP embeds 3 of his segments, one with Hillary, one with Obama and one with Edwards.
All three are so bad, they are embarrassing. First a hackneyed bit where Clinton comes out and masterfully fixes the network feed and then puts make-up on Colbert. Do they even have writers, or did Clinton write that and hand it to them when she walked in? It sucked. It wasn’t remotely funny.
Then they let Obama spout some talking points, and went through a labored bit with some props. It was like the Bataan Death March getting through it. It was worse than weak, because weak would have at least had a premise. You know where they have a good set up, like say on SNL, but then they don’t seem to get everything they could out of it, or end weakly after a funny start?
Not here.
This had no chance of ever being funny. It sucked from beginning to end, and you could see where it was going, much like the Clinton bit, and then you had to just sit through the unfunny piece of excrement until it was over.
Plus, maybe its because I’m not an acolyte, but in my eyes, Obama is an insufferable asshole. His entire mien is snobbish, aloof, disdainful. He exudes snark and sarcasm. This “elitist” tag didn’t get stuck on him just for the “bitter” remark. I coincidentally watched the “finger” video today, and its in the man’s very manner. He was scolding of the press was as like: “hey you dumb fucks, I’m above all this petty bullshit” as if he wasn’t culpable for a lot of really un-presidential behavior and associations, including Wright, Ayres, Rezko, et al, plus a lot of really indefensible, unwise and undoable, if not dangerous, policy stands.

congrats on reading (or scrolling) this far, you get to enjoy another brilliant photoshop for your reward — cllck to embiggen
No, the press was just trivial and out to get him and petty and childish. It was 45 minutes, he pointed out, before they asked him a question he liked or of which he approved. Well lah-di-dah, you fucking asshole, their job isn’t to give you questions you like, their job is to expose you are a fraud and a liar or to see if you can man up and answer in a forthright, honest, committed fashion.
But the leftwingnuts have talked to the public, and the public told them that they were not interested in the fact Obama cavorts at parties with terrorists, or that his pastor preaches hate to Obama’s little daughters every week, or that Obama hates rural voters. Because the public has spoken, and they said no, they’d rather Obama read some of his policy white papers on fiscal trends.
I’ve heard that a few times today from people defending the debate — the first 45 minutes of the debate served an important purpose, because the public wanted to hear more about the controversies than the issues.
But we know this isn’t true, precisely because the public has already said so. dnA explained:
Keep in mind those aren’t just “pressing” issues, in the sense that they are affecting all of our lives…those are the issue the voters have identified as important to them, according to Gallup’s poll in March, the top four issues being the Economy, Iraq, healthcare, and fuel prices. Soon to be joined by food prices, I’m sure.
It’s not like public priorities are some kind of mystery. ABC News conducts polls on it all the time. Presumably, Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson have read the results on the air.
Where do you suppose flag pins rank on the list of public concerns?
His source? Another leftist blogger paraphrasing quotes from the leftist Editor and Publisher, who is scandalized that ABC picked on poor Obama so meanly. So I guess that proves it.
Also, they taught George “George” Stephanopolous what it feels like to be a candidate, because he got hell for bucking liberal orthodoxy and not sucking Obama’s asshole with the correct pressure of the lips around his sphincter and exerting an improper amount of suction as he felched the excremental goodness of the typical snide slime Obama exudes during these debates.
A prissy pantied liberal eunuch is so shocked at Steph’s behavior he probably dropped the cock right out of his mouth as he stared, slack-jawed with surprise, when Steph started asking Obama embarrassing questions instead of gazing worshipfully and asking him what makes people love him so much and how does he stay so eloquent:
From the often-harrumphing Gibson, this is no big surprise. But from Stephanopoulos??? Who earlier in his career was a message/press/legislative man for Dick Gephardt and of course played a more visible version of that role during Bill Clinton’s rise – what the hell is this????
I like and respect Stephanopoulos, and part of what I respect about him is the way he usually conducts his TV interviews. But I also remember dealing with him back in the early Clinton days, he in his role as campaign guy and me in my role as reporter. He understands thoroughly and in his bones what is wrong with the kind of mindless, substance-free gotcha questioning he and Gibson wasted their time on last night. I know he understands it because I’ve heard him shame journalists who were applying the same tactics to Bill Clinton back in the day. What was he thinking? What kind of pressure had been applied to him?
— Whatever else happens the next time we choose a president, there has got to be a better way to see candidates operate under pressure than the grotesque system that has metastasized during this electoral cycle. It makes candidates into mere props for bullying anchormen-narcissists.
Who are then bullied by leftwingnut blogger narcissists? Well, bullied if he could muster up anything stronger than whining wonder at George’s perfidy. I’ll help you, old man, you’ve apparently fallen and can’t get up:
George, you’ve disappointed the man! You used to be such a reliably compliant tool for the Democrats, what happened to you? This guy has about as much menace as a three month old baby girl, but he shakes his fist and points and squeals in a convincing manner, the wind of which might muss George’s sexily perpetually mussed hair just enough to shove George back into the fold. He’s learned not to mess with the nutroots or the nutpress.
So, this would be all good if Obama were running against Stephie, but unfortunately McCain will not be such a little prison bitch, lifting tail and suspending disbelief as the press does, taking Obama’s big eloquent cock up their collective asses and absorbing the healing spunk of Hope and Change.
So after all this leftwingnut hand-wringing and threatening and name-calling and slap-fighting like a gaggle of little bitches messing up each other’s makeup, Obama gets on Colbert and whines some more about it. Fuck Obama. I really detest that prig. He has a stick so far up his ass I’m surprised he’s not milking his prostate with every step.
He thinks he deserves to be president despite his lack of experience, gravitas, wisdom, concurrence with the American public, realistic worldview, etc. because he’s the smartest guy he knows and he can save all us poor dumb bastards from our racist, jesus-humping, gun-fetish in place of hugs Mommy never gave us, hatred for “people who aren’t like us” mindset and CHANGE this country into a socialist paradise where wealth is redistributed according to a spoils system devised by the great Uniter and Hope validator.
However, stuck up sticky beaks like Obama have a poor record of being elected president. The line runs from Adlai Stevenson, through McGovern, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry and straight to Obama, and another factor was besides thinking their shit didn’t stink, they were all wimps.
The specter of John Kerry in 2004 is beginning to haunt the Democrats in 2008. It is the specter of wimpy campaigns past. It showed up, like Banquo’s ghost, at the debate Wednesday night in Philadelphia, particularly when Hillary Clinton joined with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson to nip away at the edges of Barack Obama’s patriotism. Between the questions about Obama’s meager association with William Ayers, a former Weatherman, and the suspicions raised by his lack of a flag lapel pin, the likely nominee is slowly being turned into John Kerry. He is becoming, in other words, a candidate who may be mostly right about national security but who will lack the Red State street cred to carry his point—and the election.
The reaction of the leftwingnuts to every little criticism of Obama, and their over-all fuckwitted dickmanship in everything they do has me rooting for Clinton lately and even feeling some sympathy for her because the enemy of my enemy, etc. Plus, she’s actually an adult about Iraq and runs to the right of Obama, who is to the left side of the road compared to everyone in the Senate, apparently.
Then there was a verbose, unfunny John Edwards bit that I admit I moved the slider through in parts. It consisted of the very kind of “applause lines” that Tina Fey was bagging on The Daily Show for using instead of actual, you know, jokes. Pander lines. Stuff that wouldn’t have worked had a comedian been delivering them instead of “hey look, I’m John Edwards, and I’m up here in this set taking up 5 minutes of Colbert’s show with a big-name politico delivering lines! Applaud everybody!
Lastly, Colbert isn’t very funny, and he’s not very personable. He belongs to that class of “comedian” that is popular now, the Borat version, where you adopt a character that you look down upon, and you use that character to push fake stereotypes, (coincidentally, liberal, leftist stereotypes) in a way that demeans and insults another group of people whom you obviously detest and look upon. In the case of Borat, its the very kind of people Obama was insulting, rural, small-town hicks in flyover country.
I took the time to suffer through over 20 non-funny, tedious, formulaic, unoriginal segments. Colbert gets a cheap laugh because anything you do that makes jest at the expense of conservatives or typical middle Americans is fucking hilarious. Basically, the gag is “hey, look at me, I’m a big stupid Republican and I believe stupid Republican shit, watch me bumble around idiotically with my retarded 19th century morals and prejudices and my warmongering, racist, sexist hate makes me enjoy seeing children killed while lowering taxes for rich people and helping corporations screw the little guy, all while turning the country into a fascist concentration camp where all dissent is stifled!”
Which leftists never get tired of repeating, endlessly, even though it loses some steam when Bush is obviously the most mocked and ridiculed and criticized and condemned president since Nixon, so his repression is typically a big Republican blunder, they can’t even do fascism right. But they do spend each day torturing innocent terrorists and listening to American phone calls so they can send us to Guantanamo.
It is exactly like Borat’s gig: assume they are all boorish, racist gun-nuts and religious zealots and they are easy targets. Never mind that he doesn’t do much that is actually witty or clever. He does do plenty of winking snark, which is really irritating.
Borat’s main thrust was to assume rural Americans in flyover country were hard-core racists, and his humor was actually very ugly in that a number of the people who are humoring him would never have said or done the things he goaded them into doing on their own, in an odd way, some of them were being polite and trying to humor this foreign asshole instead of just telling him how fucked up he is. That’s the general sense I got from the short segments I suffered through, anyway. I detest the motherfucker and couldn’t stomach the entire movie. I mostly saw the rodeo part and a few others, and I had a bellyful of Borat.
In Colbert’s case, he also hits those types, but mostly because he does it to anyone who is right of center. He exposes how wrong-headed, hypocritical and stupid they are with his over the top caricature, tilting at straw men most of the time. Its facile humor, its the opposite of clever, its lazy humor. Tina Fey had it exactly right: Jon Stewart and Colbert can get by on a steady diet of “Bush is stupid and Republicans are evil and dumb because they don’t believe in glowball warmism and they believe in God. Jesus, what a bunch of stupid, right-wing hicks!”
And its a given that the war was wrong, that Iraqis should be abandoned, in fact should still be living under Saddam’s tyranny because the war was a total mistake and the worst blunder in the history of Man, and the War on Terra is just one big joke and completely manufactured by BooshCo so he can destroy the Constitution and run a fascist dictatorship, and America deserved to be attacked anyway because we oppress the rest of the world.
That’s the worldview you need to “get” Daily Show humor. I’ve seen him hit Hillary and even Obama with jibes, but that doesn’t change the fact of Jon Stewart and Stevie Colbert’s frame of reference. Its one shared by Letterman, by the by, and probably contributes to the fact that he hasn’t been funny in about 10 years or more.
I’m about tired of hearing what a couple of geniuses Colbert and Stewart are. Predictably, Fey was savaged by lefty commenters in threads about her heresy. The leftwingnuts don’t take kindly to having their bullshit exposed. And they go batshit nuts on someone they counted as one of the brethren who betrays them.
