Ok, what have I been watching this week whilt coding my merry way around the ‘net? Lucky Dozen fairly new movies, some still in the theaters, but thank god for Pirate Bay I can enjoy Jumanji without dealing with hordes of teens giggling or cheering and it doesn’t cost me $20 a pop. Do I feel guilt? No.

Watched (at least parts of) over a dozen movies last night. I watch them while working, and I put the speed on at least 1.30 to keep them moving. I go mostly by title, YIFY gives a slight synopsis but I rarely read it. I just wade in. Here’s what I watched last night. Here’s my ratings:

1 good, saved on HD for re-viewing
2 okay, maybe I’ll save it maybe I won’t
3 fair, ok to watch once, but then delete
4 poor, barely watched it and deleted immediately
5 sucked, didn’t watch all the way through

TWOS

That Awkward Moment (2014) 3 shallow guys chasing girls, one after his wife dumped him, the girls, especially the blonde one, is a major bitch so it accurately reflects young adults mating behaviour. The guys want to get laid, the girls don’t know wtf they want, but they blame that on the guys. Zac Efron’s character had the best take, don’t get in a relationship at that age, it will end in tears and have damn little joy. Best advertisement in the world for ‘fuck ’em and leave ’em’ philosophy. Ultimately depressing moviewith not near enough tits and ass for the subject matter. Score:2 good to see Miles Teller working!

I try to list these according to how much I liked them (not to be confused, necessarily with how good they are) so if you don’t make it down the list you won’t waste your time on shitty movies or their shitty reviews. Anyway, what’s up for this week? All newish 2017 movies either still in or just out of the theater. This week is all ‘good’ movies I mostly liked, all are above water (3 or better)

God I’m grouchy, so many shitty movies, so little time. First off, no one in Hollywood has an original idea since Weinstein wacked off into the potted plants. Stuff like Being John Malkovich or Paul Anderson’s stuff just doesn’t happen anymore. Even the Coen Bros are making shit or remakes these days. Well, I liked True Grit (2) but I digress. It was no Fargo or Raising Arizona. And these actors. God I hate these fucking young actors.

Thanks to the indominable YIFY (sorry, can’t link him, you’ll have to “search” for him somehow, that is, I assume he’s a man, he may well be a girl but they are rarely involved in this sort of thing, but that is a stereotype, isn’t it? YIFY may very well be a girl. No, it’s a guy, use your head.)

Mostly newish movies, some good, some duds. You can’t win them all. I’m surprised that most new movies seem to be low budget horror, although it’s been that way since what, the ’30s, ’40s? The ’50s were famous for them, Hammer cornered the market in the ’60s, then the ’70s were the start of the zombie and slasher flicks, the ’80s brought on the shlock and sex indies like Troma Entertainment’s Toxic Avenger (1984) and continued into the ’90s with stuff like Brian Yuzna’s Bride of Reanimator.
