Everyone is shocked, shocked, that Obambi is suddenly killing Hillary! in an unstoppable free-fall.
Its not surprising and I’m here to tell you why: everyone in the country, including Bill, hates Hillary!’s fucking guts. And yet she will still get the nomination, although if the Republicans nominate a decent candidate, she will lose the general. And here’s why:
People, right and left, despise Hillary. They hate her hactoring, shrill voice. They hate her lecturing. They hate her phoniness. They hate how she lied constantly for Bill so she could get this gig running for Prez, they hate that she thinks its her turn. They hate her politics, the right hates her liberalism and the left hates her “trianglism”. Everyone hates her face, how she walks, how she smiles. She’s a know-it-all who always thinks she’s the smartest person in the room, and has to let you know it.
UPDATE: Glad to see I’m in good company in my belief that Hillary will come back and take the nomination. Pat Ruffini believes so also, and for a lot of the same reasons as I.
<–end update
Here’s the type of person she is: she gave her class’s valedictorian speech. You know who usually gives that speech? The girl everyone in the class hates, but who kissed up to the professors all year. Profs love suck-ups, and they reward it. I’m willing to bet good money her classmates hated her like poison. And reading her old writings, dripping with Hillary! attitude, you can see why. And she hasn’t changed.
The woman is a horrible, horrible person. She is dishonest and phony to the core, her only agenda is herself and always has been. She is probably the most calculating, deceiving, perfidious, devious person to ever run for president. And everyone knows it. They hate her politically and they hate her personally. There’s not a dozen people, including her staff, who believe she is a good person. The only people who support her at all just want the Dems to win.
Democrats have hated her guts since she was first lady. But she has always been too powerful to buck. And the whole “inevitability” thang was working for quite a while. Edwards damn sure wasn’t going to beat her. Warner might have given her a run, but she would have won anyway, but she bought him off somehow just to make sure (probably a cabinet post or guaranteed veep slot? Who knows. Maybe just wait ’til next cycle like a good boy and you’ll get rewarded. Something).
Anyway, every Dem gritted his teeth and prepared to vote for her. Even the lefty blogs held their fire (I know, I read them) because it is always “say no evil about a Dem that the Republicans might use later” and they love Edwards, but know he can’t win. So they were all for letting Hill get elected then spend four years berating her for not being progressive enough. But they could live with it.
So here’s the gist of my nub: when your entire plan is based on power, if you lose any power, you are shot to hell. When Hillo stumbled on licenses for illegals, people pounced: her rivals, the press, the rightblogs. And everyone who has been waiting years to kick her when she was finally down is getting a boot in. People are gleeful about her fall. They revel in it. That’s the depth of the hatred for this woman among the politically attentive people in this country. And those who don’t follow politics don’t think much of her either.
Plus, Hillary has a major Achilles Heel to her “professional”-ness and her “competence”: she can’t take a punch. She can’t take criticism. She loses her temper at the very audacity that someone questions her seriously. That’s why she doesn’t do interviews unless she can control them.
Word is she’s FURIOUS with Obambi for having the gall to run, as inexperienced as he is and being black and all, its robbing her of her “first black presidentette” cred. Neither of the Clintons have ever done anything for blacks, in reality, but Bill grew up a poor young black child or something and that makes him, according to the Stella Got Her Groove chick, the first wigga prez.
Hillah took the stumbles badly, reacted horribly, and now she’s reaping the hatred that has always been right below the surface. People are downright happy she’s going down the tubes.
Its not because Obama is so great, either. He is just on a roll right now, the flavor of the week. You don’t see the press making a fuss like this for Huckabee, because they don’t hate any of the Republicans like they do Hillary, neither the press nor the public (at this point, anyway).
The real world doesn’t love Obama. That’s bullshit. Everyone who isn’t an idiot knows he’s too young, too inexperienced, too naive and too damn dumb about the world to be president of the United States, which is basically President of Planet Earth. Ron Paul would be a more competent president than Obama, and Paul is an insane paranoiac with white supremacist and anti-semitic ties.
I don’t buy all this messianic crap about Obambi being the second coming of JFK either, or that he’s going to change politics as we know it.
I personally don’t want an end to partisanship. I don’t want Republicans and Democrats cooperating (which, by the way, is the leftwingnutblogs knock on him too!) Hillbillies want to be called “Sons of the Soil” too, but it ain’t gonna happen. The president has no power to make congress get along, and if he cooperates too much with the opposition, his own party is going to hang him by his thumbs. Nobody but people who don’t vote want an end to all this “partisan bickering”.
Everyone wants their side to bicker, and plenty hard. No one wants to give in to the other side, whom they think is evil incarnate with equal venom on both sides.
The country is getting MORE partisan if anything, and there are deep divides. This means that there are binary choices on a lot of issues. And co-opting a definite YES or NO when the left wants it is going to mean war. The leftblogs aren’t any stronger, but they sure are getting louder, and they do drive the news cycle. Obambi isn’t going to be able to do any of the things he “hopes” he can do, even if he does mean it.
He’s perfect for a VP slot. First black nominated by a major party, fresh young face, up and comer, etc. But not president. Write this down: OBAMA WILL NOT BE ELECTED PRESIDENT IN 2008. Period.
In fact, I don’t think he gets the nomination. What is going on is that people hate Hill so they are glad to see her get her comeuppance. They want her to suffer, to be humiliated, to eat some crow and come down to earth from her high high horse. If she had cruised to the nomination, oh my god, she’s have been even more unsufferable than usual.
She will be, again, but she’ll adopt a modest act for a bit. Because Hillary is going to win the nomination. This summer, when the enthusiasm dies down, people are going to sober up and realize Obama can’t get elected, and he shouldn’t get elected. So Hillary is the default. She is the only Dem with a chance to win, and that’s only if the Republicans fuck up and nominate either Romney or Huckabee. If McCain or Guiliani is nominated, they win.
I personally think the election is going to be Hillary and Rudy, and Rudy wins by about the same as Dubya did: 51-52%. There’s a hard core polarization in the country that guarantees each party 48%. Everyone is fighting over 4%. If the Republicans nominate someone that the 4% can’t stand to have president worse than Hillary, she wins. If not, she loses.
And you doctrinaire conservatives, who are off your prune juice and always threatening “if Rudy or McCain are the only choice, I’ll just sit home I won’t vote at all”, you know what, fuck you. If you don’t love the Republican nominee enough, that means the Dems won’t be able to vilify him enough. For every one of you disgruntled, lock-step purists who demand rigid conformity to some extreme right agenda who don’t vote, 3 independents, and even some Dems, WILL vote for the Republican. So if you don’t like whoever he is enough, its a GOOD THING.
Because a hard right Republican won’t get elected. Dubya has been painted a conservative, although there are real doubts about the veracity of the claim, and the country thinks it wants a “change”. So the country is not going to elect anything remotely resembling a neo-con, a paleo-con or just anyone who can be labeled a “conservative”. Its getting as disreputable as the word “liberal”, what with “conservatives” like Larry Craig and that guy who IMed the teen-age pags. The press has been working on that for a while and its starting to work.
No, the country is ready for what it thinks is a consensus candidate. That’s part of Obambi’s appeal, and if he were about 10 years older or had at least one term as a Senator under his belt, maybe he’d have a case. But as it is, he wouldn’t be, he couldn’t be and mostly he shouldn’t be elected president. He’d be a disaster.
Guiliani and McCain are qualified and reliable when it counts: on SCOTUS nominations. Everything is politics, mostly. Look at what Bush has accomplished, other than the tax cut. What? Name something conservative? Only 2 things stand out: Alito and new Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. That’s what matters, and if you do sit home you risk Hillary naming the next 3 or so instead of Rudy. So if you are pig-headedly ignorant enough to risk that, you aren’t a real conservative anyway, so again, fuck you running. I’m sick of hearing you guys.
Romney and Huckabee won’t get elected for the above reasons, among others. Romney, a racist, sexist intolerant bigot, would destroy the party. Hopefully, he’ll lose NH and get out as if he were a decent person. More likely he’ll hang around until Michigan, because his ego and his pocketbook want him to win at least one primary so his dick won’t shrink up. Huckabee is going nowhere. Flash in the pan in the dictionary has his head shot floating on the left.
You bookmark this, check the date and see if I’m not right. Hillary and Rudy have the money for the long haul, and the long haul is what matter. New news is old news in 6 hours now. Iowa is cold and dead. NH will be more-so by mid-January. By Feb 5, all this trivia will be forgotten, and Hillary’s got the money for TV and the union and establishment organization to win the big states. Plus, people are going to start coming home as the Republican field firms up.
Part of all this is that the Dems don’t have anyone to hate yet. So they are hating Hillary. They love to hate. They haven’t loved their nominee since JFK, and I wasn’t around but I’m willing to bet that wasn’t until he was dead. History reads he would have been a one-termer, he barely squeaked past Nixon and the country HATED him for Christ’s sake.
The Dems love to hate the other guy, not love their guy. The public was sick of Nixon, so Carter won. Reagan basically got a 3rd term with Bush senior, but 12 years was enough so Slick Willy, helped by a 3rd party run, got hisself a plurality. The Republicans nominated the worst candidate they could, but it was his turn, and old man Dole lost in ’96.
Clinton had to break every rule on the books to cook up enough money, and even then he barely beat Dole, but again, the Dems hated Dole just enough. They didn’t hate Dubya enough in ’00 and they hated him too much in ’04. The middle 4% didn’t buy Kerry, and no one loved him.
All the Dems need is a Republican to hate, and they’ll come dragging back to hold their nose and vote for Hillary, just like they did Kerry. Its just early enough for them to get some of the bile they have toward her out. Everyone in the country is loving this, left and right. But when the elections on the line, and the naming of probably 3 seats on the SCOTUS next term, things are going to grim up. The Dems want to win, badly.
They know in their hearts Obama is not ready, and he can’t win. Hillary can win, if things go her way. More than likely, she won’t, but she’s their only hope, and there’s nothing like “got no other choice” to make you do something you don’t wanna do.
So there you have it. Hillary will “come back”, but more accurately, the adults in this country will come to their senses. The pundits will call is “inherent racism” and “the country isn’t ready for a black president”, which is bullshit. Colin Powell, had he wanted it, could probably be president this year. Bush would have discarded Cheney, for “health reasons”, and made Powell veep. And he would have cake-walked to the presidency. The country is plenty ready for a black or a women president. But not Hillary or Obama, nor the combination, should she suck it up and make her 2nd (very doubtful, he has too much ‘star quality’, she’s already got Bill to contend with).
So that’s what’s going on, just so you know.
