Not properly an underground comic in the sense of Rip Off Press or Kitchen Sink Press, but an alternative comic for sure.
The sex-filled antics of “funny animals”, which , ifyou don’t know the term, are animals who wlak and talk and dress and drive and live and love and fuck like people. Omaha the Cat Dancer was always titled with “funny animals” in the description.
from Wiki:
A funny animal is an anthropomorphic animal character who lives like a human. Funny animals typically are bipedal, wear clothes, live in houses, drive vehicles, and have jobs, which distinguish them from other animal characters who may nonetheless display anthropomorphic characteristics such as speaking or showing facial expressions. Funny animal (also talking animal) is also the genre of comics and animated cartoons which primarily feature funny animals.
While many funny animal stories are light-hearted and humorous, the genre is not exclusively comedic. Dark or serious stories featuring characters of this sort can also be grouped under the “funny animals” category, sometimes referred to as anthropomorphic characters to avoid confusion over the range of genres. These stories may intersect with any other genre or group of genres, including historical fiction, science fiction, superhero, western, slapstick comedy, children’s/family entertainment, and satire.
There’s nearly 60 of these, so we’re jumping the gun a bit by announcing when we only have 10 or so up, we’ll be doing them in batches of 10 or 20 as time allows, but rest assured they are all formatted and ready to go, they just need pages and sliders created and tiny synopses added, all of which takes a great deal of time. They will be added to the menu as they are ready, so check there.
Any votes on what is next? We’d love to add Creepy, but we only have 4 issues at the moment and not even sure if that’s an entire series, so pbably wait until we can add more. Hot Stuf, Dr. Atomic (pot addled, along the lines of FFF), Peepshow (not as sexy as it sounds), Blackhole (teenage mutants but no turtles), Tits and Clits (really bad art, poor writing) and Melody (about a stripper but about as sexy as Hi and Lois, without the sexual tension) are all candidates.
Right now I’d lean towards Dr. Atomic as the best fit and best writing/art. THere is a big push for us to add the gay one-paneller Julius, which would be a huge undertaking, he has so many titles, but we’ll see, we’ve received amazing online support for it and as long as the viewers want it, we aims to please!
