Bill Walsh says, in an article about 300:
Sin City’s world was all but devoid of the qualities one sees in the Spartans–self-sacrifice, valor, bravery, honor.
Did this guy even SEE Sin City? Both Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis’ character sacrifice their lives, Mickey to avenge his murdered lover and Bruce Willis shoots himself so his enemies won’t track down his adopted daughter, whom he saved from a rapist even though his partner threatened to shoot him (and did).
Plus the Clive Owen character risks life and limb to save the Sin City hookers from the cops. Sheesh, every hero in the piece is brave, if not completely reckless and crazy, and there’s plenty of sacrifice and honor going on too.
