Mail Girl Opens her Package
Lady Mail Carrier
by Marie LeClare
When Heather Weatherby started teaching some 25 years ago, she wanted to get married and raise a couple of kids of her own, but after the years passed and she realized she didn’t want a man, but a woman, those hopes dimmed. Was it really 25 years, she thought to herself as she sat on her front porch after cleaning her house for the umpteenth time since retiring.
She had enjoyed her few experiences with other women at college but as the years passed she began to realize that perhaps she would never meet her life’s partner.
Just then the lady who delivers the mail, whom Heather had never seen before because she was at school, walked up her front walk and said, “Just looks like bills this time I’m afraid Mrs. Weatherby,” with a smile.
“It’s Miss Weatherby, and I’ve never been that lucky or unlucky to get married, but you can call me Heather”, she said with a slight chuckle, as she invited her eyes to take the scenic route of her mail carrier.
