STORY
“During your long abscence in service to the Emporer, your Queen has been kidnapped by the another scion of the nefarious Wolf, who demands a Ransom of 24 Enchanted Swords, forged from the Blessed Iron Ore found only in the Sacred Mines, and which can only be crafted by the Monks who reside there.
Unfortunately, your old nemesis and half-brother the Pig has taken control of those mines and rules with an iron hand. The Monks will not mine for him, and the soldiers in the garrison there will rebel if you can take the Pig’s Stronghold.
Your best strategy is to take a small group and by stealth, sneak past the guards and kill the Pig instead of taking the Mines by force and killing soldiers that could be your allies if played correctly. Following this strategy, your special mission is comprised of 6 dozen and one of your finest soldiers, a squad each of Macemen, Archers, Crossbowmen, Swordsmen, Pikemen and a group of Monks who have escaped the Mines to guide your men.
Other evil forces in the area know well the power of the Enchanted Blades, and will harass you and attempt to disrupt production. Fend them off while your Crastsmen work with all haste, because the Wolf is amassing a huge army and once he does he will take the Mines himself. After he kills you and your followers, he will take your Queen for his own!”
NOTES
This mission is a bit different from an orginary invasion may in that its supposed to take place “underground” in a mine, with no walls and towers “submerged” in the walls and connected with secret tunnels.
Built mostly of Wood, and manned with only footsoldiers (mounted Knights would be inappropriate underground) this mission has a somewhat primitive feel and there is no real castle, just ‘underground’ chambers which must be protected from the many invasion points.
Over populating the Mines will trigger grievous penalty events, so be careful. Due to the fact all triggers are halved by Easy setting, this mission is more difficult if not impossible on Easy because these events will take place at half the population of Normal. Manning the Mines and Blacksmiths alone needed to win would require a higher population than Easy setting would allow.
