When we first encountered Obama, we thought he might indeed be the transitional figure he claimed to be, a bi-racial man who eschewed the race-baiting of Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Then we all heard about Rev. Wright. We discovered, that although we might not harbor any ill will toward black people, many of them hated us with a deep and disturbing hatred. And they hated us just for being white.

Sad, bitter news today. I am behind the times, as I have just heard an American company is remaking one of the favorite movies, made from an even better book, the Swedish film Let the Right One In. BUY IT on Amazon
Of course, because of the mad success of the brainless, poorly made and worse acted Twilight series, every ignorant fuck who sees this new American version will think, “oh, another rip-off movie for Twilight, with young vampires”, but they will be, as they always are in everything they say, think and do, wrong.

Americans tourists have pretty much always been regarded as “ugly” in the sense that we have the temerity to be wealthy enough to afford vacations to foreign countries, then show up over there and instead of just handing over our traveler’s checks or credit cards, we actually talk, dress and act in an American fashion.

docweasel on Worth 1000
docweasel’s first foray into one the notorious Worth 1000 Photoshop contests is an old image that didn’t follow the guidelines, broke the rules and wasn’t even a Photoshop of what it was supposed to be, but still beat nearly 2/3rds of the Worth 1000 veterans who contributed. We didn’t even use Photoshop, with all its bells and whistles and macros and filters, instead using a nearly 10 year old version of Paintshop Pro. Imagine if we’d tried!

UPDATE: some mild ribbing of the estimable Ace of AOSHQ results in a public meltdown. Read on, this is both pathetic and heart-breaking because we geniunly liked the guy, he just has become sort of a prig lately and a member of our group gave him some well-deserved shit over it, and he went apeshit. This should go in a textbook about internet insanity. /END UPDATE
I post this because the author won’t, and it will annoy her, plus it’s funny.
One of the writers here typically comments around the ‘net with the moniker “ms” docweasel (which is technically against the spirit of our endeavor, which is to blog/post/comment with the same name to confuse people and to avoid “star blogger” syndrome, where the personality of one of the posters in a group blog becomes the “star” and infighting breaks out on the blog, see poli-pundit et all.
