Self-hating individuals who pander to those outside their ethnic group by demeaning their own ethnicity always struck me as pathetic clowns, begging for acceptance by admitting their own inferiority.
Continuing the famous fiction that “it’s ok to denigrate your own group” Bulldog Pundit of Ankle Biting Pundits delivers up this gem of an idiot’s post in response to this story about Guiliani mimicking the Godfather
Whining Wops Angry At Giuliani by Bull Dog PunditYes, being an Italian I can use the word “Wop”. And why do I use it? Because some critics and leaders of “Italian American organizations” are angry that Rudy Giuliani has impersonated Vito Corleone from The Godfather in various campaign speeches.
Hey Bulldog, just because you are an Italian-American doesn’t make you any less of an asshole for using the word “Wop”. For one thing, thank god, I rarely hear words like “wop” or “dago” used anymore, but where I do hear them are on trash shows like The Sopranos and the like that continue to show Italians in the worst possible light, as movies and teevee shows have for decades.
It DOES irk me that the image of an Italian-American male is either a wise-guy or a goombah NY greaseball. I’m pretty sick of hearing blacks complain about their depiction in entertainment when Italians have been sinned against MUCH more. There are scores and scores of positive portrayals of blacks. All the most well-known Italian characters are gangsters or guys like the morons portrayed in Spike Lee’s “Summer of Sam”: ignorant bigoted drug dealers.
So, you may be Italian-American. But you are still an asshole for using a stupid epithet about a group with a legit complaint, and for helping keep alive a derogatory and offensive term. Congrats, paisan.
