We couldn’t resist making Plop the newest addition to our comics collection, with its MAD pedigree of Basil Wolverton covers as well as co-creator Sergio Aragones, the guy who draws the little funnies in the margins of MAD Magazine. But even though it’s a major publisher release (venerable DC Comics, home to Superman and Batman, among other classics) the feel is very underground and the stories are more EC than DC comics, with ghouls, horror, sci-fi and humor.
What’s next? We’d really like to feature the Naylor comics but there are 60 issues and we haven’t figured out how to display them yet. Thumbs suck, stacking them is so ’90s (although that’s what a lot of sites do) and 60 more sliders might be too much of a load. We’ll keep adding smaller series and see if there is any appreciable difference. If not, we’ll bite the bullet and do 60 sliders and 60 pages of Naylor. More likely, Death Rattle, Dr. Atomic or PeepShow might make an appearance next month.
